dropping some over calculated math on some folks. my proposed mission statement for the university library. it's actually positive which is very uncharacteristic of me. so, yes, i do ponder the future of libraries:
The San Jose State University Library strives to meet the learning and information needs of the San Jose State University Community of Students, Faculty and Staff and contribute in a joint involvement as a participant in the lifelong learning of the surrounding Community in conjunction with the City of San Jose. In redefining the library as a Learning Information Space, we construct a user-centric atmosphere by providing choices for the patron in developing their own learning processes and provide the support necessary for the patron to navigate their own learning terrain. We also commit to expanding and implementing the tools and technology necessary to facilitate the learning process.
