Weak Tree: Criticisms and Fears -- Da Board

http://www.daboards.com

Auwe! Has CAD entered the realm of bodyboard shaping displacing the individual touch and personal mana of a human shaper? Will mass production of boards equate to more skilled riders or, heaven forbid, more kooks invading the line-up with their lack of surf etiquette and water reading skills. Of course, this is dependent on the premise that mass production will eventually lead to a price drop and a lighter on the wallet entre' into the waveridership. Is this the future of bodyboarding?

Or is this the future of bodyboarding? The computerized ability to create defined lines and specialize the vehicle to perfectly match the wave, the conditions, the rider. Is it even possible? The margin of error-- the variance of wave, conditions, and rider -- make it an impossible dream to dream.

Like the perfect wave, the perfect board is a pipe dream.

Who, in their right mind, would like to know more about a malcontent like myself? Instead, here's a true collectible.

Weak Tree: the Flickr-ing Lite -- An exercise of analysis no.5

Thizzzzzzz!

"Turn that frown upside down!"
"It takes more muscles to frown than smile"
"Let a smile be your umbrella on a rainy, rainy day"

Honestly, it's rather difficult to smile when Admin takes the cake (literally and figuratively) from staff. I guess I have at least a flash drive to look forward to.

Peace?

...in the library? You've gotta be kidding me. This definitely isn't the intersession days of good ol' Clark. Actually, I meant the number two, more specifically, two for two -- two blogs on two consecutive days (not like number two, you dirty minded folk!). Life long learning doesn't take days off.

As the San Jose Public Library approaches the 50 million mark , I tilt my head in retrospective of my 3 1/2 years working at the San Jose State University branch(aka Martin Luther King, Jr. Library). Actually, I've worked for SJSU for nearly 5 years, the first year toiling between Clark and the Senter Road Storage, driving unwilling shelvers/pagers in an attempt to uncover the Guamanian ghosts said to be haunting the compact shelving units. More on that in the future (there has to be a web program designed to hunt creatures from the beyond on Learning 2.0, right?). Instead, with a box of Reduced Fat Wheat Thins at my side and a remote eye on the "counter," I'll steady the ship of remorse on the recent future.

I was certifiable. Name in bright lights, on billboards, in the post office, my picture with a bull's eye on it. I swear my Norwegian spies discovered photocopies of my mug gracing several cubicles with thumbtacks thru my eyes. Public Library Enemy number #1. Still am, to tell the truth, though I'll admit I've toned down a bit and as a result am not the hunted prey I once was. I started out here steppin' with my left foot and tripped up a bit during the feeling out period, but I've managed to survive. Other people, including an ever-changing opposition, survived as well. Don't get me wrong the rebellion hasn't been squashed, we just more covert about it, not in a back stabbing sort of way. Honestly, I'll make it known if you have crossed our paths (Admin re: the cutting back of Student Assistant budget) and eventually be reprimanded about it. We just more legit about it, taking it thru the proper channels and not wasting what little energy we have left after dealing with certain patronage. That's life long learning -- rather than toiling in mud you learn to grab a stick, a vine, a union rep, something to get you out. And trust me, I'm always getting stuck in mud.

So after 3 1/2 years and 50 million check outs/renewals, what got drilled into my head? I've learned to say...

Lovingly,
Neil,
Library YES Man
and
Corporate Shill.

Thing-a-ma-jig the third: ninja stars thru the heart...

...of the individual that gave the go ahead and blocked our ability to download programs (ie additional Flickr add-ons) on our work computer. Kind of limits our ability to explore. Is it my fault that some idiot opened up a virus (when they thought they were opening an email attachment to look at naked animals)? A ninja star to his (or her) heart as well!

Tweakedone: Blogging as a form of learning...

hmmm...Bribery, what a sincere jolt of energy in an attempt to learn. All for a flash drive? I don't necessarily know what that is but as Jessica Simpson said, "I want it."

As I embark on a not-so-private journey into the Learning 2.0 world, I ponder about the thoughts that criss-cross my spiteful mind. Practicing restraint has never been my strength, but I guess I can be very conscious of my surroundings. So, rather than putting some of the work and social politics "on blast," maybe for a brief minute or two, I'll stick to blogging about things you definitely won't find interesting--my progression thru this web-matic maze to get me some cheeze ie flash drive. Funny, ain't it?

Btw, I love cheese. Actually, cheeseburgers, better with bacon and definitely NO TOMATOES. Peanuts has a good Bacon Cheeseburger and the Six Dollar Bacon Cheese Burger from Carl's Jr is divine. I've also blogged about my love of cheeseburgers amongst the millions and millions of purveyors of MySpace. Just kidding, it's really billions and billions of visitors. Just kidding again, it was about Hawai`i cultural politics in regards to cheese.

Has it been a minute yet?
