reserves are sloths.

Admittedly, being a muckraker is definitely tiring business. not exactly intentional, tho i suppose a good portion of my defiance is born out of being a bit delusional. someone's out to get get me right, connie? i was the man of signs and flyers expressing dissatisfaction and the longing for the days of clark. i remember walking into the sort room and then walking right out. i remember just shelving UNIVERSITY books. but i've grown somewhat out of all the initial conflicts. refocused a lot of my energies at more specific enemies. sure, the fun police is still there, and i am sure somebody's got voodoo dolls of me (like the admin secretary) but heck, i've accepted that fact and well, if i survived the first years of king being targetted as PUBLIC enemy number 2 (i figure one of the student assistants would have been number 1), then i learned to just keep on keeping on. its really not worth the trouble really. if someone's got it out for me, well it's easy to get me. the geniuses who planned this crap situated our computers on our desks so that our back is to the doorway. great job guys! well, if i have a target on my back there you go brutus. thankfully, connie left her chair, no actually it's a throne, and combined with my relaxed slouching sitting position i'm able to hide somewhat. but i still beckon those who want to try.

and yet despite all that carp slinging i get my job done. not pretty and definitely not very organized (heck i know where everything is-- i just can't tell you where it is) but spring 2007 reserves processing rush is primarily in the books as yet another successful notch on the pseudo-wood desks. well, not really (thanks a lot sPam) due to an inter-office envelope that spurs bad thoughts in my mind. yet despite a few missteps (heck it was the first time my only support was primarily from an assigned student assistant), we killed it.

anyways in return, the last couple of days i've been slothing it. (picture of me above courtesy of texas.edu) i freely admit it too. actually, i did work on some strategic planning reading and turned in a couple of travel requests and paged and process quite a few course reserves including scanning items for professor grindstaff who likes to pile on the e-reserves materials. darn, recollecting over the past two and one half days it sure doesn't seem like i'm slothing it at all. i guess my chillaxed (my wife hates that word) style confuses me as well. which ultimately ties into a word of warning to those in my past that have misinterpreted me: my silky transitions and my efficiency combine with my in depth knowledge of my job completes a robotic me that oozes smoothness unseen by human eyes. yet the anti-fun library police with their archaeic strict rules born out of conservative 1950's values continue to misrepresent me as an enemy. they are so anti-sloth, they need a beer or some sort of barbituates before they get a brain fart and actually act on it. afterall, i am protected by the humane society and a bunch of peta-like groups. lol.
